Pro-bono film winners announced for Open University collaboration

We’re delighted to announce that three small local charities have been selected to work with an experienced director and producer to create a video or small series of videos as part of our partnership with the Open University. Our lucky groups will be developing their knowledge and skills in every aspect of video production to enable them to create videos now and for the future.

The standard of applications was exceptional, with 32 local charities and community groups applying to take part. The organisations chosen demonstrated their commitment to making their video a team effort. Our three lucky groups are:

Action for Refugees in Lewisham

Octopus Community Network

Association for Pastoral Care in Mental Health

"Octopus Community Network is excited to have the opportunity to work with an experienced director and broadcaster, we're looking forward to being able to showcase the work we do with communities to green housing estates around Islington. Thanks to Superhighways and Open University for enabling this to happen", said Fran Box, Octopus Community Network.

‘We’re so excited to be part of this exciting project and can’t wait to get started! It’s a unique opportunity to showcase the important work we do, and we are very grateful to all involved for choosing our small charity’, said Deborah Wilson, APCMH

"I'm really looking forward to collaborating with these three organisations to produce some fantastic videos, and hopefully in the future the research aspects of this project will help other organisations plan and deliver productions too", commented Tot Foster, director and researcher.

This opportunity was offered as part of an Open University participatory research project, which aims to find out what kind of videos are being made at the grassroots and how they are being produced.

Small groups that were unsuccessful in their applications will shortly be offered the opportunity to join a free workshop run by Tot in May.
