My name is Dave and I have been working for Superhighways for six and a half years. In this time I have built up self confidence, self esteem, experience whilst carrying out a wide and varied tasks supported by my work colleagues and Manager.
Since starting volunteering I have learnt many new skills and gained much experience, I have attended social media events, social media training and on-line training. I have worked on two local estates in Kingston on a Wednesday afternoon and a Thursday afternoon, fixing and refurbishing computers, giving best advice and training as well as writing CV`s. I have learnt Cat 5 cabling as well as recabling an office. I have helped in the rollout of new operating systems, microsoft office, endpoint to a computer suite and offices and the updating of the server. I studied a diploma course at Ricmond college in Web Technologies and ustilised the skills I learnt to develop and maintain local charity websites using E-Voice a CMS platform, I help give training, advice and support on E-voice courses both beginner and advanced and helped to give training and advice to a class of pensioners in Croydon and help and support a group from the Carer`s network starting with On-line training. I am involed in a Church project held at St Peter`s Kingston once a week offering support, advice and training.
I feel given the oportunity to volunteer has made myself feel good, by giving something to society and helping others and would thoroughly recommend it to keep and gain new skills.
